Kelly HolmesDame Kelly Holmes takes to a very different stage from the one she gripped the entire nation back in 2004 in Athens. A double gold winning Olympic Athlete for both the 800m and 1500m Kelly became a household name! Kent born Kelly joins us at LEGACY which, as it is her home county we are thrilled about. From Olympian, to a woman in business in her own right she is no stranger to what it takes to succeed both on the track and in the world of commerce. Her business venture, Cafe 1809, (pronounced one eight oh nine) in Hildenborough stems from a life long dream to own the building that used to house the Newsagents where she had a paper round as a teenager. Now that dream is a reality and when she is in Kent she can often be found behind the counter chatting with customers.

Her double gold win didn’t happen out of luck, it took an energy, passion, self belief and utter hard work to get to that world class level. Now, as she forges ahead creating a business legacy of her own we have to wonder, how much of what she gleaned from her early career struggles and triumphs has been called upon in her new venture.

Dame Kelly founded the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust in 2008 where athletes support and help transform the lives of disadvantaged young people through mentoring programmes. The skills that these  Olympians, Paralympians and world class athletes bring to the trust have so far impacted over 200,000 young people all over the country.

We look forward to welcoming Kent’s own dynamic Dame to the stage as we look to understand the challenges she herself faced transitioning in to a woman in business.
